Study Abroad Programs

Majoring in International Studies and studying abroad within another educational system, perhaps speaking another language, is a natural combination. You will learn more about yourself and the world and engage in what will most definitely be a life-changing experience. If you have the resources, the initiative, and the desire, DO IT! Even if you think that you can't financially afford to go, you are urged to get more information. Studying abroad is a surprisingly affordable adventure, and one well worth taking advantage of.

UW-Madison Programs
  • The University of Wisconsin offers more than 100 Study Abroad programs on all habitable continents, with stays of varying lengths, with and without language requirements.
  • How study abroad credits count toward the International Studies major.
  • Benefits of going on a UW-Madison program:
    1. You are considered to be in residence while abroad. You won't have to worry about violating the 30 credit rule, so that if you want to, you can spend your senior year abroad.

    2. Your grades will also transfer and be included in your Madison GPA.

    3. You do not have to reapply to UW-Madison for the following semester, and OISP will help with registration for classes for the semester of your return.
