Katie Pratt

2025 Newman Family Scholarship Honorable Mention

My name is Katie Pratt and I am pursuing a dual degree in International Studies and Dance. Reflecting on my current coursework in the International Studies major, I realize how profoundly it has shaped my understanding of the complexities of migration. The program has provided me with a multifaceted education through diverse perspectives and cultural knowledge, which have offered practical insights in refugee assistance and advocacy. Not only have I had the opportunity to engage in classwork that has deepened my knowledge of migration, but I can confidently say that the major has equipped me with a comprehensive and empathetic awareness of the struggles faced by refugees. My journey within the department has not only enriched my academic and professional life, but has instilled in me a commitment to understanding and advocating for displaced individuals worldwide.
