This summer I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with The American Task Force on Lebanon, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. The American Task Force on Lebanon, also referred to as ATFL, works to strengthen the US-Lebanon relationship through advocacy and outreach work with Congress and The Administration, the policy community, media, and think tanks. This summer I joined the ATFL team to help promote an independence, prosperous, and democratic Lebanon. Within my role as a policy and outreach intern, I helped schedule and attended meetings with members of Congress to brief them on relevant issues in Lebanon and advocate intentional policy issues. Additionally, I helped monitor daily press releases from the State Department hearings conducted by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and information from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee regarding United States foreign policy in Lebanon. This summer I was able to develop stronger professional communication skills while expanding my knowledge on Lebanon and foreign policy. This experience was extremely rewarding allowing me to advance my career pursuits in government work. Thank you to the Newman family for helping support me throughout the summer and benefitting me with this scholarship.
