Jean-René Gehan

Position title: Spring 2016 Distinguished Visiting Lecturer

Jean-René Gehan is the former French Ambassador to Kuwait and Laos. He served as French Ambassador in Laos and in Kuwait, as First Secretary in Beijing, as adviser of the French Minister of Defense and Political Military Counsellor in Washington, D.C., as Consul General in Chicago, and as Cultural Counsellor, based in New York, responsible for the relations in culture, education and higher education between France and the United States.

Jean-René Gehan was a Spring 2016 Distinguished Visiting Lecturer and taught a capstone seminar for International Studies, International Studies 601: “International Security & Diplomacy, Theory & Practice.” Distinguished Visiting Lecturers provide a practitioner’s perspective on current affairs by teaching special topics courses, hosting public events, engaging with faculty, and sharing in the intellectual life of the university.
